Leaving Valemount today

NOT SURE where I’m headed but I’ll hail you from there. It was smoky here in recent days, couldn’t even see the mountains yesterday. There were something like 480 wildfires burning in British Columbia, then came a torrential rain last night. Now quite a few roads are closed due to mudslides. I’ll wander around and find my way out to somewhere.

Bluehost and Mailchimp are wonky today, for some reason they won’t send this post out by RSS until Monday. As I type this line it’s 10 a.m. Sunday.

It was great to finally meet Bob Weeks and his wife, Janey. Bob’s headed to Australia on the 29th for a six-month motorcycling adventure.

Here’s a well-written newspaper piece on Bob’s South America travels. After a solo 5-month ride from Valemount BC to Tierra del Fuego (that’s fast!) Bob arrived home to learn that the town had scheduled him to give a slide show and a talk to 150 people at the Father’s Day barbecue. The newspaper picked up on his story, sent a reporter to interview him and published a dozen of his pics. It’s a good read.

Over and out for now…
